The First Song

This is my bittersweet first post.

About a week ago an old friend of mine lost a two year battle with leukemia. She's seldom been off my mind since then, and it seems like everywhere I go I am reminded of her. The other day I was looking through a box of mine filled with old pictures and notes from high school and came across a poem she had written me when she was graduating. Until that moment I had forgotten about the poem. It was a goodbye note- a tribute to the time spent together and all the fun we had. She finished it by saying "It's not goodbye- Just see ya around okay?". . . For days I was haunted by the irony of that line, the same words I had read four years ago had now taken on a completely new meaning. Though maybe, if you think about it, it's all the same. . .

And that leads me to my first song, "Solace" by Xavier Rudd. This song will forever remind me of Christina, one of the most beautiful and kind people I have ever met.

"Peace to you for now, we will share again."
